Why vitamin D3 + K2?

K2 helps vitamin D3! Both are needed in adequate amounts to ensure optimal biological activity of both vitamins. Vitamin D and vitamin K work synergistically.  We also need to consume adequate amounts of vitamin A and vitamin K for optimal vitamin D function. Vitamin A is consumed sufficiently in the diet, but vitamin K2 is deficient in the diet. Vitamin K2 is found in foods of animal origin and foods that have undergone bacterial fermentation.

So what is the role of K2 in this combination?

Vitamin K2 helps vitamin D to manage calcium in the body. An incorrect ratio between the two vitamins can cause excessive calcium to build up in the soft tissues or walls of blood vessels, which can cause pain or calcification of the blood vessels that can lead to cardiovascular complications.

Why choose Vitamin D3 + K2?

Vitja.si premium Vitamin D3 + K2 formula contains 100 μg of vitamin D3 (4000 IU) and 50 μg of vitamin K2, which is the optimal ratio for better performance and well-being. Research shows that consuming up to 4000 IU of vitamin D3 per day is the ideal amount of vitamin D in the blood. One pack is enough for 120 days and will last you for the whole winter period.

Positive effects of combining vitamin D3 and K2

  • supports normal immune function
  • contributes to the building and maintenance of normal strong bones
  • supports normal blood calcium levels
  • contributes to normal strong teeth
  • plays a role in cell division
  • promotes the normal functioning of the muscular system
  • plays a role in the absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus
  • contributes to normal bone hardening

K2 - a forgotten but very important vitamin

Vitamin K2 is a poorly known but very important vitamin for our bodies. It has the highest bioavailability and is one of the most important vitamins for maintaining healthy bones. However, our diets are seriously lacking in it.

Because of its role in the blood clotting process, vitamin K was originally known as the coagulation vitamin. However, years of research have shown that the role of vitamin K2 is much larger and more extensive. Vitamin K is essential in the utilisation of calcium, so it is also a key factor in maintaining bone density and in the cardiovascular system.

Vitamin K cannot be stored in the body, so it needs to be regularly supplemented through food or dietary supplements.

Vitamin K deficiency

Vitamin K2 deficiency is very common. It is not yet confirmed how much vitamin K2 we need daily, but scientists estimate that it is somewhere between 100 and 300 micrograms.

Symptoms of deficiency include:

  • frequent nosebleeds,
  • slowed wound healing,
  • chronic fatigue,
  • frequent stomach and intestinal problems.

Who is most at risk of vitamin K2 deficiency?

Vegans, vegetarians and omnivores are most at risk of deficiency, as vitamin K2 is mostly found in animal foods.

Benefits of taking vitamin K2?

Vitamin K2 is involved in processes other than bone health:

  • it helps to keep teeth strong
  • stimulates liver function
  • can help reduce inflammation in the body
  • helps prevent osteoporosis by helping to maintain bone health
  • regulates cell growth and improves blood circulation
  • increases testosterone levels in men
  • reduces levels of male hormones in women
  • can help boost energy and fitness
